LOS ANGELES — The film studio DreamWorks SKG is contacting media agencies about a spot broadcast buying project, sources said.

One source, describing the conversations as “not formal and in the very early days,” said it appears most of DreamWorks? $150 million media business, handled by GSD&M, Austin, Texas, was not threatened.

Amy Gruberg, DreamWorks’ media chief, wants to learn whether the studio can make its local broadcast spending — estimated at $30-40 million last year — more efficient.
