Gjovik Tapped to Lead New Business Push
CHICAGO--D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles in Troy, Mich., which had been seeking an executive to oversee new business development, has filled that post internally while shifting responsibilities for two top account executives.
Executive vice president Mark Gjovik was named group account director for Group D'Arcy, the "agency within an agency" that includes accounts other than General Motors' Pontiac division. Gjovik, who had been working on the Pontiac account, will continue to work on Pontiac projects.
Additionally, he takes the new title of director for strategic business development, reporting to Patrick Sherwood, managing director of the $585 million office. Agency sources earlier had said Sherwood, who joined the office in April 1996, was searching for an executive to direct a drive to broaden its client roster [Adweek, Oct. 13, 1997].
Senior vice president Stan Fields III, who previously headed Group D'Arcy, takes over as group account director on Pontiac, the office's largest account. He succeeds John Greening, who left the agency.
"These shifts are indicative of the emphasis we're putting on account diversification," said Pat McCarthy, senior vice president for communications. "We're committed to account growth and to providing our people with different experiences within their careers here."
Group D'Arcy accounts include GM Service Parts Organization, Dow Chemical, the American Plastics Council, Ryder TRS truck rental, Oakwood Healthcare System and The Budd Co. --Scott Hume
