Evelyn Monroe Neill, creative director/senior copywriter at Shepardson, Stern + Kaminsky in New York, has joined Deutsch as the agency's sixth svp/group creative director. She is the latest of several top creative hires the shop has made to meet the demands of more than $200 million in new business it has won since the year began.
Neill, 39, reports to New York managing partner, executive crea tive director Kathy Delaney, and will help shape campaigns for the agency's $100 million portion of the MCI business and the $30 million Starwood Resorts' Westin and Sheraton brands, two of the three accounts Deutsch won in the first quarter.
The third, Rev lon, consolidated its estimated $200 million account at Deutsch, which had shared it with Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners.
Neill's portfolio at Shepardson included accounts such as Time Warner Cable, the Liz Claiborne Foundation and Chubb Insurance. She has also worked at Wieden + Kennedy, Portland, Ore.
"I've been a fan of her work for years," Delaney said. "Particularly her work on [Wieden clients] Nike's women's line, Anne Klein and the Paramount Hotel."
Neill's Anne Klein TV work was meant to convey the well-roundedness of the brand's consumers. One spot showed a woman getting married as copy on the split screen told viewers that underneath the white dress was a black leather jacket.
The Paramount Hotel work showed hotel staffers in stop-motion animation.
Other creatives hired at Deutsch New York this year are svps, group cds Florence Buchanan and Karen Ellis. Neill will partner on Starwood with Buchanan, who joined in January.
The shop's other three svps, group cds are Michael DePirro, David Graham and Cheryl Van Oo yen.
