Core in St. Louis has resigned its Winchester ammunition account from Olin Corp., but it is not clear if the company intends to seek a replacement agency.
Core quit the business following the departure of Harlan Kent, the Winchester division's vice president of marketing. Kent had hired the agency in 1995.
Stamford, Conn.-based Olin Corp. markets bullets, shotgun shells and reloading equipment under the Winchester brand from facilities in East Alton, Ill. Winchester firearms are manufactured under license by other companies. Company officials could not be reached for comment.
Core produced a TV spot and several print campaigns for the client, although spending was listed at just $483,000 in 1997 by Competitive Media Reporting. --Trevor Jense
