Cole & Weber Finally Brings Mattox Aboard

Mary Love Mattox has joined Cole & Weber in the new post of vice president/group director in the account services group.
Mattox, 39, will head the Seattle shop's Safeco Insurance, KFC regional co-op and Pyramid Ale accounts.
Previously she served as group account director at Suissa Miller, Los Angeles, where she was responsible for brand development and advertising on a variety of accounts.
The move to Cole & Weber was based on a "lifestyle" decision, she said.
"My husband and I made a life choice," she said. "We wanted to get out of L.A. We wanted to buy a house with a backyard, send our kids to safe schools and live in a cleaner environment."
Although Mattox is now responsible for managing most of the agency's accounts, she is not involved with its largest, Boeing.
"I've decided careerwise, I don't want to do airlines or cars," Mattox said, explaining that she didn't want to be pigeonholed in those categories.
Much of her career has been in packaged goods. Prior to Suissa Miller, she worked for DMB&B, Los Angeles, on the Kal Kan business. She also has worked on Procter & Gamble and Frito-Lay brands, and helped introduce retail and financial services to Suissa Miller.
"We've actually tried to hire Mary Love a couple of times," said Cole & Weber president Debby Kennedy. "Her experience rounds out our agency's packaged goods expertise."
The hire of Mattox completes a management restructuring begun last November. The agency has also added Mike Doherty as senior vice president/managing director of its Portland, Ore. office, and elevated Rob Klein to executive creative director.
