NEW YORK Dentsu's Colby & Partners is poised to move into its new midtown offices here, across the hall from predecessor Oasis, with a new management trio charged with leading its estimated $70 million Sharp account.
Steve Hickson, 38, assumed the post of executive vice president, account director in May, and has been responsible for managing the Sharp business and running New York operations. Most recently, Hickson was senior vice president, management director at Foote Cone & Belding in New York, in charge of Samsung's North American account.
"We're looking at this as an extension of the California presence," said Hickson. "It's definitely not just a Sharp satellite office."
Since he joined the agency in May, Hickson said the 23-person team—15 of which work on the Sharp account—has been focusing on current clients and collecting presentation materials. While Hickson said the shop is looking to grow organically, management would like to add one or two small to midsize accounts in the next three to six months.
David Heller, 39, most recently vice president and media director at TMPG in White Plains, N.Y., came on board in May and is overseeing media operations at the New York outpost. Elke Ershfeld, formerly an associate creative director at Ziccardi Partners Frierson Mee, is partnering with associate creative director David Muldoon on several Colby accounts. She arrived in June.
Prior to arrival, Hickson said agency principal Rick Colby split his time between the agency's East and West Coast offices. The shop will likely move into its offices by November, he said.
