Co-ops Give J. Stokes More Work

LOS ANGELES J. Stokes & Associates said it has landed additional regional ad duties from Mail Boxes Etc. and SpeeDee Oil Change & Tune-Up.

MBE's regional co-ops have tapped the Walnut Creek, Calif., shop to handle advertising and promotions for the Northern California markets of Sacramento, Fresno, Salinas/Monterey and San Luis Obispo. Zimmerman & Partners in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., previously handled the business. The shop was a finalist in the review, said J. Stokes president Jim Stokes.

J. Stokes now represents more than 250 MBE centers, including the San Francisco market, which the agency has served for more than three years. Doner in Southfield, Mich., handles national advertising for the San Diego-based client.

For SpeeDee, J. Stokes will now handle advertising for Dallas/Fort Worth. This is a newly formed co-op group for the client, which is headquartered in Matarie, La. The shop also works with 50 SpeeDee centers throughout Northern California and Texas.

Combined billings for the two accounts are more than $1 million.

J. Stokes specializes in working with multiple-location retailers, Stokes said. The shop also represents more than 350 Subway restaurants in the West.
