BOSTON — Peter Gerritsen, co-founder of Allen & Gerritsen, the largest independently owned agency in New England, will leave the $100 million shop effective June 1, the agency said today.

Gerritsen, who held the title of executive vp, formed the Watertown, Mass., agency in 1985 with Paul Allen, who remains A&G’s chairman and CEO. Gerritsen, a designer by trade, had in recent years relinquished most of his day-to-day management functions. He will remain affiliated with A&G as a consultant and a member of its board of directors.
