BOSTON The Castle Group, an independent public relations and events management agency, said it has made several significant hires and promotions in recent weeks. Jason Newberg has joined the Boston-based agency as a PR account manager and Diana Paulik comes aboard as an assistant events manager.

Newberg, 29, is responsible for the strategic direction of several agency PR accounts, including MFS, one of the nation's oldest and largest mutual fund companies, as well as Ultra-Scan, a provider of ultrasonic fingerprint identification technology. He had been an account supervisor at New York public relations agency Intermarket Communications, and has also worked at Waltham, Mass., tech PR shop Schwartz Communications.

Paulik, 31, oversees strategic events management for corporate and nonprofit clients, with a focus on incentive programs, fundraisers and sales meetings. Previously, she served as a volunteer for Castle-managed philanthropic events, including Woman's Heart Day. Her prior employer was Level 3 Communications.

In addition, Castle has elevated Jim Collins, 53, to manager of corporate and business development; Leigh Needham, 32, to account director; Laura Vogel, 25, to senior events manager; and Ericka Helwig, 24, to account executive.
