CHICAGO Leo Burnett shows how music and electricity go hand in hand in a new television spot for utility ComEd.

The 30-second television commercial from the Chicago agency features 14 local bands plugging in their instruments, tuning up and greeting crowds with "Hello Chicago." As the performers move through their sets, they close with a good night and "See you next Monday." Onscreen text notes that ComEd has been "Helping performers greet the locals since 1887."

The ad will air on Chicago and Rockford, Ill., television stations during the summer. The media budget was not disclosed.

The spot was shot by local photographer and filmmaker Sam Jones, who also helmed the acclaimed documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart about local band Wilco's travails in producing its latest album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

Jones also lensed a year-end holiday spot for ComEd, which featured factory workers assembling illuminated plastic snowmen while singing "Winter Wonderland."
