Paul Smith has been hired as president of the Sansome Group in San Francisco, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bronner Slosberg Humphrey.
Smith had for the past six months served as senior vice president of Post Communications, an online marketing startup in San Francisco. Prior to that, he served as managing director of Wunderman Cato Johnson offices in both San Francisco and New York.
"He has a very compelling vision about the future of marketing" in line with Bronner's model of helping clients build relationships at numerous points of contact with consumers, said David Kenny, president of the Boston-based agency.
Smith believes his knowledge of the local market and profile among West Coast clients will serve him well. "There aren't many agencies [in California] looking to do an integrated model" along the lines of Sansome and Bronner, he said. "They have a good chance [of success] here."
Smith takes the reins on March 15, replacing interim president Reuben Hendell, who helped launch Sansome last fall.
Sansome's clients include Charles Schwab, LA Cellular and U.S. Satellite Broadcasting. Smith brings no clients with him to Sansome, which shares office space with Bronner online division Strategic Interactive Group.
