CHICAGO Borders Group has selected Crispin Porter + Bogusky for its $15 million account following a three-month review, the client has confirmed.

The Maxxcom agency's Los Angeles office will handle the business.

Crispin bested Interpublic Group's Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis and independent The Richards Group, Dallas, in the final round of review for the book and music chain's business, sources said.

The search was conducted with the help of the Zyman Marketing Group, said client executive vice preisdent and chief marketing officer Michael Spinozzi in a statement.

Borders previously worked with IPG's Campbell-Ewald in Warren, Mich., on a project basis. That agency, which also handled media buying, completed its last work in April.

Borders spent an estimated $10 million on ads in 2002, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
