NEW YORK Dave Allen, global CEO of WPP Group's Enterprise IG since 2004, is vacating that post to focus entirely on his corporate role as leader of Team Vodafone, which comprises some 30 WPP agencies, including Enterprise and JWT, WPP said on Monday. He becomes CEO of Team Vodafone, a group he has led part-time for the past year.
Succeeding Allen at branding and identity agency Enterprise IG in London is Simon Bolton, who from 2001 until late last year was CEO of JWT U.K. and Ireland, WPP said. The moves take effect this month.
In November, JWT replaced Bolton with Toby Hoare—WPP's top executive on its $500-600 million global HSBC account—albeit with a slightly different title: executive chairman of JWT U.K. Before JWT, Bolton was CEO of the San Francisco office of Interpublic Group's Foote Cone & Belding.
Bolton, 47, will remain in London and report to Craig Branigan, chairman of WPP's branding, identity and design group, as well as CEO of Landor Associates.
"Simon has the skill to motivate people and build businesses," said Branigan, in a statement. "He has a good knowledge of WPP and is very familiar with the U.S. and Asian markets, where the growth potential for Enterprise IG is huge."
Allen, 49, will work out of JWT's London office since the agency handles the largest chunk of WPP's Vodafone account, which is global and crosses many disciplines of marketing services. As CEO of Team Vodafone, he reports to WPP CEO Martin Sorrell. "He is passionate about working with clients and already has close ties with Vodafone, which will make for a smooth transition," said Mark Read, WPP's director of strategy.
