Black Lab Lands First International Client

LOS ANGELES Independent Black Lab has received a branding assignment for investment and venture capital company Rising Star Holdings, the agency said.

John Probandt, chairman and president of Irvine, Calif.-based RSH, said in a statement that the agency matched its "philosophy of diversity . . . We met with a few companies, but we feel confident that Black Lab will exceed our expectations with their strategic process and creative talent."

"We're really ecstatic to be working in the international arena with our first international client," said Paige Gillingwater, president of Black Lab in Venice, Calif. "Developing a brand identity for all of Rising Star's core industries will be a strategic and creative challenge."

Gillingwater said the company is advertising for the first time as it develops an amusement park in China and is in negotiations with a major studio on another project.

The company did not previously have an agency. Black Lab will handle media duties.

"This is such an exciting creative opportunity for Black Lab because we get to touch on so many different industries with one client," said Holland Henton, co-president and chief creative officer.

The value of the assignment was not disclosed.
