LOS ANGELES Best Western International is in negotiations to award the creative portion of its $25 million ad account to Interpublic Group's Suissa Miller, sources said.
The Los Angeles shop overcame independents Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners in Sausalito, Calif., and R&R Partners in Las Vegas, sources said. A fourth contender, IPG's Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis, withdrew earlier in the process, according to sources.
Suissa Miller officials declined to comment; representatives at the other shops either declined comment or could not be reached.
IPG's Media Partnership in Norwalk, Conn., will handle media buying for Best Western, sources said.
Janet Gillmore, director of advertising and creative services for the Phoenix-based hotel chain, would not confirm Suissa's selection. She said Best Western is currently in contract negotiations with an undisclosed shop and expects to name a winner this week.
Best Western previously worked with Davis Media/Chess Communications in Baltimore.
