NEW YORK Ogilvy & Mather has promoted Andy Berndt, a group creative director and former top account handler before he joined Ogilvy in 1998, to the new post of managing director of the New York headquarters. The move takes effect April 1.

Berndt, 38, will steer operations across all departments—duties previously held by Bill Gray, who in July rose to co-CEO of North America, along with Carla Hendra, the WPP Group shop said. (Before that, Gray was New York president.)
