DALLAS Virginia Tourism Corp. said it has awarded its $3 million advertising account to BCF following a review.
"We sought a firm that could combine new media with traditional media to cut through the clutter and reach potential visitors," said Susan Payne, who chaired the VTC search committee.
The two other finalists were Barber Martin and Charles Ryan Associates, both in Richmond, Va. White & Partners of Herndon was the incumbent.
Virginia's slogan is "Virginia is for lovers." The state saw tourism revenue grow by nearly 10 percent in 2005 to nearly $17 billion, according to the VTC, which seeks to generate increased visitor expenditures, tax revenues and employment through its efforts.
"Creating a stronger emotional connection with audiences is a challenge faced by tourism destinations across the country, and Virginia faces strong competition within the market," said Art Webb, president of BCF.
BCF, based in Virginia Beach, Va., with a satellite office in Richmond, is a 26-year-old independent shop. Its destination category clients include the Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, Virginia Beach Convention Center, Fredericksburg Area Tourism and Amelia Island Tourist Development.
