SAN FRANCISCO The Hive Advertising has hired art director Melanie Barti in the newly created position of associate creative director, to work on accounts such as Gymboree and Salmon Bay Expositions, the agency said.
Barti, 38, has 11 years of experience in advertising and most recently freelanced, after leaving Omnicom Group's Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, in 2001. At Goodby, she worked on accounts such as Hewlett-Packard, eBay and Pacific Bell.
She reports to Dave Knox, creative director, and DeeAnn Budney, founder of the independent San Francisco shop.
"I've admired Mel's work for a long, long time," Budney said. "We're very fortunate to have Mel join us. The Hive won a great deal of business in 2004, and having a senior player with her talent will help take us to the next level in 2005."
Barti was also on staff at independent Butler, Shine and Stern in Sausalito, Calif., from 1995 to 1999, working on Borders Books, Round Table Pizza and Millers Outpost.
During her career, Barti's work has been recognized by Communication Arts and The One Club, among others.
