The University of Alabama at Birmingham Health System has selected Schroffel & Associates here as its marketing consultant to provide strategic direction and planning for its communications programs.
Schroffel was selected from a field of 12 ad agencies and marketing companies from across the country. The agency competed against three undisclosed shops in the final round. Annual billings are undisclosed.
The 10-year-old agency has established itself in the healthcare category in Southern California. Its current client roster includes the University of California at Irvine Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, Daniel Freeman Hospital and the University Children's Medical Group and Pediatric Group. Past clients have included the University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center and the State of California Department of Health Services Breast Cancer Early Detection Program.
"We will develop a strategic marketing plan that will unify the message for the university health system's various entities," said agency president Bruce Schroffel.
The agency will then embark on an advertising campaign for the client, Schroffel said.
