BOSTON WPP Group's Hill & Knowlton has been selected as lead public relations agency for ATA Airlines, the agency said.
"H&K offered us an experienced and highly strategic team with solid corporate and consumer travel credentials. They understand our business, as well as the opportunities and challenges we face in the industry," said John Happ, senior vice president, marketing and sales at ATA Airlines. "We are looking forward to taking advantage of all the resources the agency has to offer, particularly in priority markets such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco."
In its new role, H&K's assignment encompasses external communications, corporate positioning, consumer promotions and media relations.
The agency won the business following a review involving undisclosed firms; the budget was not disclosed. H&K's New York office will lead the account. Previously, the business was handled in-house.
The Indianapolis-based client is aiming to raise awareness of its brand in the Northeast and Midwest and on the West Coast. The 31-year-old low-fare carrier operates scheduled service from Chicago-Midway, Hawaii, Indianapolis, New York and San Francisco to more than 40 destinations.
