Ask Jeeves Installs Ad Search

Ask Jeeves today announced its latest service: the DirectHit Network, an advertising system that it says allows companies to implement Ask Jeeves search capabilities on their Web sites and capitalize on the search results.

Ask Jeeves said it is the first advertising network powered by a keyword search infrastructure and it gives companies a targeted advertising vehicle an inexpensive way to generate online revenue.

"By targeting so precisely, the DirectHit Network enables Web sites to simultaneously increase customer loyalty and generate revenue," said Joshua Stylman, vp or syndication and partnerships at Ask Jeeves.

There is little doubt that the sale of keywords to advertisers has slowed in recent months, but Stylman hopes that Ask Jeeves will be able to attract advertisers looking to place contextual ads, especially in the travel, real estate and health markets.
