Wired Kids The ad industry’s growth rate is accelerating, according to Competitive Media Reporting data. Spending across the 11 measured media grew by more than 20 percent when this year’s June quarter is compared with 1996’s. Year-to-year growth in the first quarter was, at 7.3 percent, sedate by comparison. Network cable showed the greatest gains in the quarter; this medium accounts for almost 10 percent of all ad spending, making it bigger than outdoor, syndicated broadcast TV and national radio combined.
