SAN FRANCISCO AKQA has hired the president of the 2005 Cannes Cyber Lions jury, P.J. Pereira, as executive creative director, the agency said.

Pereira, 31, is a former vice president and creative director of AgenciaClick, the largest Internet agency in Brazil. With more than 16 years of experience in the interactive marketing and advertising fields, he has won 35 international awards in the past seven years, including 13 Cyber Lions, a Cyber Lion Grand Prix, eight One Show Pencils, one Grand Prix and five golds at the London International Advertising Festival.

"P.J. is the leading interactive creative director and agency entrepreneur from Latin America and we are thrilled that he will be joining AKQA's creative team," said Tom Bedecarre, chief executive officer of the San Francisco-based agency.

The shop has hired two other creative directors in the past 90 days: Lars Bastholm from Framfab and Rei Inamoto from R/GA.

With AKQA's London executive creative directors, James Hilton and Daniel Bonner, the five will form the agency's global creative council.

"2005 is going to be a breakout year for AKQA," said Bedecarre. "We're very eager to see the exciting work that P.J. and Rei and Lars will develop for our clients."
