NEVADA Quillin & Co. Advertising and Public Relations was retained by Maryland-based GreenStone Industries. The Las Vegas agency will market the company's Engineered For Life program, an approach to home building based on the principles of building science. Thomas Puckett Marketing and Advertising in Las Vegas added advertising duties for La Posada de Santa Fe, a historical resort in Santa Fe, N.M. OREGON Senior copywriter John LaFountain has left KVO Advertising and Public Relations in Portland to form his own copywriting service, Copysmith. The new company, also in Portland, is targeting high-tech clients and their agencies. The Sammamish Club & Tennis Academy in Issaquah, Wash., selected Eisenberg Inc. as its marketing communications agency of record. The Portland shop will create a strategic marketing plan to attract new members to the fitness club. Grady Britton in Portland has acquired Spotted Antelope, a San Mateo, Calif.-based Internet development agency. Spotted Antelope has relocated its facilities and will be housed at Grady Britton under the name Grady Britton Interactive. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Muse Cordero Chen & Partners in Los Angeles was selected by Sempra Energy to introduce the company's brand into the African American market. The San Diego-based energy services holding company hired the specialty agency to target both business and residential customers. Bender Goldman & Helper in Los Angeles added two new e-commerce public relations clients: Shopping.com and GameDealer.com. The Blaze Co. in Venice was retained by The Province Group to promote SeaCastle, the company's new Santa Monica beachfront rental residence. The property is set to open this winter. Blaze has also been hired for the sixth consecutive year to promote the Napa Valley Wine Auction. Myron L Company in Carlsbad named Salisbury Figueroa Advertising in San Diego as its agency of record. Founded in 1957, Myron L Company is a manufacturer of portable conductivity instruments. Ahlman & Associates in Thousand Oaks has created a new print campaign for Raypak. The ads for the Westlake Village, Calif.-based manufacturer of commercial and consumer water heaters feature professional swimmer Mark Spitz. Cyberworks in San Diego will design, develop and market an international Web site for the WD-40 Co. The Web site development shop will work in conjunction with WD-40's lead agency of 40 years, Phillips-Ramsey Advertising, and the company's public relations firm, Nuffer, Smith, Tucker. Drasnin Communications in Del Mar was retained by Echolink Interactive, a San Diego-based Web site development company. The agency has also been hired by three other companies: Vortex Technologies; Communications Plus; and Fit Technologies, to publicize the release and sale of its "15-Minute Total Body Workout" video. Telecom Solutions in Lake Forest hired Schraff Group in Newport Beach as its advertising agency of record. Hilary Kaye Associates in Tustin added Chicago Pizza & Brewery to its client roster. Averett College hired Castle & Associates in San Diego to create the 1999 advertising campaign for the school's Adult Curriculum for Excellence program. The Canadian Consulate retained Stoorza Ziegaus & Metzger's Life Science and Technology team in San Diego to provide community and media relations services. WASHINGTON Parallel Communications has been assigned marketing duties for the state of Washington's Earned Income Tax Credit project. The Redmond agency will work with the state's Office of Financial Management to market the program, which allows low- to moderate-income families and individuals to receive a cash tax return from the IRS on income they have already earned. Separately, the agency will develop a corporate Web site for Onyx Software, handle marketing duties for Wavtrace and Network Computing Architects and complete several assignments for Bsquare Corp. Big Bang Idea Engineering in Seattle was chosen by Gear.com, a new e-commerce company that sells sports equipment over the Internet, to handle its 1999 ad launch
