Rodgers Townsend e-mailed its Christmas card to about 400 friends, clients and contacts. But by the St. Louis shop’s latest count, the missive had been seen by some 10,000 viewers thanks to word of mouth about its unique content.

The streaming video card was the creation of Mark Motley and Kris Wright, who used a few Barbie- and Ken-type dolls to create a fictional set of children’s toys, the Ad Guy family.

Shot like a 1960s commercial for action figures, the video shows characters such as “Marc With a ‘C'” the copywriter and “Kimmy Wong” the “account girl” doing battle with “The Client,” a monstrous figure with a bulging eye.

“The advertising business is such a great target for parody,” said agency principal Tom Townsend.
