4 Shops Pursue Lands' End Broadcast

CHICAGO Three Midwest shops and one East Coast agency will compete for Lands’ End’s broadcast creative account, the company said today.

Contenders are Omnicom Group’s BBDO and Downtown Partners, both in Chicago; WPP Group’s Fresh Grey in New York; and independent agency Young & Laramore in Indianapolis.

Lands’ End has historically spent about $30 million annually on advertising, according to TNS Media Intelligence. Sources, however, have said that the account—which calls mainly for broadcast chores—is worth significantly less this time around, as the company’s parent looks to cut costs after a merger with Kmart Holdings.
