ATLANTA Three agencies have reached the final round in the review for the $20 million ad account of Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits, according to sources.
Competing are Interpublic Group shops Avrett Free & Ginsberg in New York and Austin Kelley in Atlanta, as well as independent Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago, sources said.
Popeyes parted ways in June with IPG-owned incumbent Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in New York.
Search consultant Sheri Treco-Jones of Agency ID in Atlanta is managing the process. Neither she nor the client could immediately be reached. Agency executives either could not be reached or declined comment.
Previously, Treco-Jones said the client did not issue requests for proposals, opting instead to visit various agencies in different markets in order to select finalists [Adweek Online, June 20].
The three finalists will now be given creative assignments and a decision is expected by month's end.
Atlanta-based Popeyes, a division of AFC Enterprises, has said it is looking for an agency with quick-service restaurant, food and franchise experience.
