3 Advance to ACD Roles at TBWA\C\D

SAN FRANCISCO TBWA\Chiat\Day has promoted three staffers to associate creative directors, among them the creator of the Pets.com sock puppet, an art director who started an agency with Spike Lee and the man who helped turn around Continental Airlines in the New York market.

The promotions of Scott Duchon, Geoff Edwards and John Patroulis are effective immediately, the San Francisco agency said.

Duchon, 34, created the sock puppet for the online pet supply store when Omnicom Group's Chiat\Day opened its San Francisco office. The puppet transcended advertising and became a part of pop culture, with appearances on national news shows and the covers of major magazines.

Duchon began his career at Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Miami. From there he went to J. Walter Thompson in New York, where in 1996 he was recognized by the Art Director's Club as one of advertising's best creatives under the age of 30.

Art director Edwards, 36, began his career at Chiat\Day 13 years ago, then went on to a number of projects for New York and Chicago agencies like J. Walter Thompson, Publicis/Bloom, DDB, Foote Cone & Belding and Element 79 Partners. In 1996, Edwards co-founded Spike/DDB with his friend and filmmaker Spike Lee. The two partnered for two years.

Patroulis, a creative director, recently joined the San Francisco office to work on adidas and Fox Sports Net. His first job in advertising involved the launch of the Continental "Work hard. Fly right" campaign that helped fuel the airline's turnaround in New York.
