Young & Rubicam has reached into mcgarrybowen to find a new head for its Chicago office.

John Fraser, chief operating officer at mcgarrybowen in Chicago, is replacing Kary McIlwain as president of Y&R's local office. McIlwain, a 26-year veteran of Y&R who has led the office since 2001, is shifting to non-executive chairman for a transition period that will end toward the end of this year.

Fraser, meanwhile, will join his new agency on Wednesday.

The new chief arrives two months after Y&R changed creative leadership in the office.
