SAN FRANCISCO Technology and business-to-business marketing executive EJ Vongher has joined WPP Group's Young & Rubicam here in the new position of vice president, group account director, the agency said.
Vongher, 42, will lead Y&R San Francisco's Polycom account and handle new business, an agency representative said. He reports to Penny Baldwin, North American managing partner.
Vongher has more than 20 years' experience in marketing. He comes to Y&R after managing an integrated communications consultancy for enterprise technology companies, including NetApp and Quest Software. Prior to that, he held management positions at DDB San Francisco and New York, working on Compaq Computer, Deloitte Consulting and Wherify Wireless.
He also served as a vice president, group management supervisor at McCann Erickson in San Francisco, where he helped to reposition Silicon Graphics to SGI, and as director of corporate communications for NEC's computer systems division.
"EJ brings a deep understanding of the marketing needs of technology and b-to-b companies to Y&R San Francisco," Baldwin said in a statement. "His holistic and pragmatic approach to brand building will be a key asset to our b-to-b and tech clients."
"I'm excited to be working in such a smart, strategic and integrated culture," said Vongher. "I've been impressed by how closely Y&R works with other marketing disciplines."
