AUSTIN, TEXAS GSD&M’s Roy Spence is giving up the top job at the agency he co-founded 38 years ago.

Duff Stewart, 48, president and chief operating officer, has been named president, chief executive officer at Omnicom’s GSD&M Idea City here.

Spence (pictured), 60, will retain the title of chairman and stay active in new business.

Stewart, a 19-year veteran at GSD&M, was named president in August 2007. He has run the day-to-day operations for the past several years as Spence became more involved in outside pursuits such as becoming a close adviser to Hillary Clinton in the presidential primaries last year and in setting up The Purpose Institute.
