For 22 years, BBDO had been Pizza Hut's lead creative agency. That long-term relationship ended four years ago, however, with the hiring of The Martin Agency and now the chain is switching agencies again.

Mcgarrybowen is the brand's new lead shop and will run the business out of its Chicago office. Pizza Hut, which spends about $245 million in media annually, beccomes one of the largest accounts at the office, alongside Sears, Kraft, Mondelez and Disney

Pizza Hut confirmed the hire in a statement. The new agency's first work is expected in November.

The Dentsu shop prevailed in a review in which there were three other finalists: Mullen, Havas Worldwide and The Martin Agency. Select Resources International in Santa Monica, Calif. managed the search.

The finalists emerged last month from a broader pack of agencies that also included Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Saatchi & Saatchi. The review began in June.

Media planning and buying were not in play and remain at Publicis Groupe's Optimedia.
