The Metro light rail in Phoenix this week introduced the first advertising to appear on its system. To promote the National Basketball Assn.’s All-Star game on Feb. 15 at US Airways Center, the NBA wrapped two trains on the new mass transit system with images of six 2009 NBA All-Stars.

Prior to the NBA campaign, which will run through Feb.16, the Phoenix Metro—which connects Phoenix, Mesa and Tempe—had a “no advertising policy.” The Metro voted to allow the NBA to wrap the trains as a pilot project.
