Petco has appointed Elisabeth Charles to a newly created position: senior vice president and CMO. Charles joins the pet products retailer from Victoria's Secret Stores, where she served as executive vice president of marketing.

At Petco, which is based in San Diego, Charles will be responsible for marketing, advertising and e-commerce efforts for the entire brand, which operates more than 950 stores across the U.S.

Charles will serve as the first CMO for Petco, said company rep Lisa Epstein.
