NEW YORK In a break with recent practice, Ogilvy & Mather has named separate leaders for advertising and direct marketing in its New York office.

The new managing director for Ogilvy advertising is Simon Pearce and the new managing director for the shop’s direct arm, OgilvyOne, is Harvey Kipnis. Both report to Carla Hendra, chairman across all units of the shop’s operations here.

Kipnis, 54, was previously chief growth officer for Ogilvy North America and Pearce, 43, was a worldwide managing director on the WPP Group agency’s American Express account.
