Obama Eyes Genachowski for FCC Chair

NEW YORK Julius Genachowski is President-elect Barack Obama’s pick to run the Federal Communications Commission, according to several reports citing sources inside the incoming White House administration.

The appointment has not been officially made nor confirmed.

A former Harvard Law School classmate of Obama’s, Genachowski has recently served as Obama’s technology adviser. His FCC experience includes serving as chief counsel for former commission chairman Reed Hundt and a legal aide to former chairman Bill Kennard when the latter served as general counsel of the FCC.

Genachowski’s resume includes LaunchBox Digital, a venture capital firm, and various positions at Barry Diller’s IAC/InterActive Corp.
