National CineMedia Expands Its Ad Network

National CineMedia has expanded its advertising network, signing a five-year exclusive affiliate agreement with Starplex Cinemas, ShowBiz Cinemas and Picture Show Theatres, the 11th-largest movie theater chain in the U.S. in terms of attendance.

The deal, announced Monday (Oct. 5), adds to NCM's network 34 theaters and 310 screens in 11 states including Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and Washington, for a total of 17,000 screens.

"I am pleased with the progress we are making building our affiliate network of theater circuits as we continue to strengthen our ability to compete more effectively in the national advertising marketplace," said Kurt Hall, president and CEO of NCM.

The agreement goes into effect Jan. 1, 2010.
