MRM London acquired direct and digital independent Meteorite. The McCann Worldgroup unit did not disclose terms.

The new entity, MRM Meteorite, will be led by Meteorite’s top executives, Hugh Bishop and Debbie Smith, with titles still being finalized. A McCann rep declined to comment on whether MRM London chief executive Mike Cornwell will stay at the combined company.

MRM Meteorite will have more than 160 employees. MRM London has worked for Vauxhall, Microsoft, Intel, Dell, Nationwide, and MasterCard. Meteorite’s roster of marketers includes Argos, Costa Coffee, Homebase, Royal Mail, Expedia, Cisco, Standard Life, and BlackBerry.

Meteorite was founded 12 years ago and employs 70 people. Bishop, who has been the agency’s chairman, spent 20 years in senior brand management at clients like Bally Shoes, Levi’s, and the Burton Group. Smith, Meterorite’s managing director and founding partner, started at U.K. retailer Boots and moved over to the agency side, where she was managing director of WPP integrated shop PCG, before starting Meterorite.

This is the second Worldgroup U.K. digital acquisition in as many months. In August the company acquired interactive design shop AllofUs.
