NEW YORK Pfizer has awarded creative duties on its Viagra brand to McCann Erickson, a client representative has confirmed. Pfizer spends about $110 million annually on ads for the brand.

Interpublic Group’s McCann outpaced Omnicom Group’s Merkley and Partners to win the business.

The latter’s sibling, Cline Davis & Mann, was the incumbent on the account and was eliminated from the process in an earlier round as was WPP Group’s Berlin Cameron/Red Cell.

In April, the client awarded direct marketing duties on Viagra to independent Digitas in New York after a review.
