Mary Wells Lawrence may soon join the ranks of Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein and Bill Bernbach.
TBWA/Chiat Day in Venice, Calif., has approached the ad legend (shown here) about participating in the shop’s “Think different” campaign for Apple Computer, said Jeremy Miller, public relations director for the agency. The campaign features black-and-white images of great leaders and original thinkers.
“We have been in talks with her but nothing is confirmed yet. And we have not found the right image,” said Miller.
Wells Lawrence, now retired and living in France, declined comment.
Wells BDDP in New York, a descendent of the agency Wells Lawrence built, is now the target of an acquisition by Omnicom Group, which among other properties, owns TBWA Chiat/Day.
