Lowe Taps Kuhn to Steer GMC Account

NEW YORK Lowe president Susan Cantor has hired Tony Kuhn, a former senior executive at Foote Cone & Belding with roughly 20 years of car account experience, to take the reins on GMC Trucks, the New York agency's largest account.

Kuhn, who started two weeks ago, became the eighth managing director at the Interpublic Group shop. He reports to Cantor, who previously managed the estimated $200 million account. (Cantor advanced to president in February, thereby triggering a search for a new GMC account chief.)

For the past year, Kuhn, 45, worked at automotive consultancy David E. Davis Jr. & Associates in Detroit. Before that, he spent 12 years at Bozell and FCB, which absorbed Bozell's international offices and car business in 1999. His brand experience ranges from Jeep and Chrysler (at Bozell, FCB) to Dodge trucks (at BBDO) and Chevrolet trucks (at Campbell-Ewald).

"His business acumen on world-class automotive brands and his integrated experience in marketing those brands around the world make him unquestionably the best candidate to head the GMC account," Cantor said, in a statement.
