Long known as the insurance capital of the world, Hartford, Conn., is in need of an image update--and a group now forming thinks it may be able to point the way.
Next Thursday heralds the official launch of the Connecticut Association of Web Professionals, the Nutmeg State's first organization for its burgeoning new media sector.
The association is the brainchild of BrainBug, a 4-year-old Web development and marketing company based in Hartford.
BrainBug's management team--founder and president Matt Straznitskas, director of client services Dean Simmons and creative director Eric Knight--will head the new trade group. The impetus came from the growing number of Web boutiques in the Hartford area. "We wanted to create cohesiveness," Straznitskas said.
The trio are shunning titles in their new roles because, Straznitskas explained,"We're trying to keep it low key. We don't want it to be like New York."
Although the three may be title-free, BrainBug media director Andy Weatherwax will serve as the group's chairman. --Sarah Jones
