Hector Munoz Rises to CMO at Popeyes

Fast-food vet used to work for Burger King

Popeyes has more than 2,000 restaurants worldwide.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has named Hector Munoz as its new chief marketing officer, after he served as vp of marketing for the New Orleans-based restaurant chain.

Munoz will report to Popeyes' chief brand experience officer Dick Lynch and help develop everything from ads and promotions to products and menu ideas.

Munoz joined Popeyes in 2011 after more than a decade with Burger King. Earlier in his career, he worked at Long John Silver's, Taco Bell, Bruegger's Bagels and Church's Chicken.

Munoz' promotion comes after 17 consecutive quarters of positive same store sales at Popeyes. He attributed the success to a mix of new and familiar menu choices at the 42-year-old restaurant chain, which has more than 2,000 locations throughout North and Central America, Asia and the Middle East.

The move also comes at a pivotal time in the chicken-based restaurant. Last year, chicken outpaced beef for the first time in a century as one of America's favorite food choices.
