Advertising has reimagined Abraham Lincoln as all sorts of characters. Recently, the Great Emancipator has been cast as a beaver’s pal in a sleepless guy’s dream and the bitter face of the penny jealous over Washington’s more appreciated dollar. BBDO manages a fresh portrait that does have some historical basis, as Lincoln was well known for his prowess at wrestling. This spot employs the WWE template, with the 16th president of the United States ripping off his clothes, breaking chairs over opponents’ heads and flexing like a maniac — all during one of the Lincoln-Douglas debates of 1858.
