Crispin Hires Strategic Lead for Microsoft Windows

David and Goliath alum joins agency's L.A. office

Crispin, Porter and Bogusky has hired David Measer as group planning director, leading strategy on Microsoft Windows work out of the agency's Los Angeles office.

Measer started at MDC-owned Crispin last week, after spending four years as director of strategic planning and business development at L.A. independent agency David and Goliath.

Measer will report directly to Suzanne Powers, evp and global strategic director, who is based at MDC's office in New York. Powers and Measer also worked together at TBWA/Chiat/Day L.A. in what Powers called "a past life." (Powers worked at TBWA from 2000 to 2011, while Measer worked there in 2004 and 2005, on the agency's Apple account).

As for Measer's mandate at Crispin: "[Microsoft Windows] is a massive brand and more people on the planet use Windows than any other operating system," said Powers. Measer will be focused on "how to take it forward, quite simply."

"He's diving in with both feet right now and I look forward to seeing what he's going to do with it," she added.

Strategic planning on the Microsoft Windows account was previously led by Jason De Turris, a vp and group planning director based in Boulder, who has worked across the agency's assignments for Microsoft, which have also included projects for the tech giant's search engine, Bing, and its Windows Phone mobile platform. De Turris also leads strategy on the agency's Kraft business, among others. Measer will help reduce De Turris's load, Powers said, and geographically center the agency's strategic work on the Windows business more sensibly at its L.A. office—closer to Microsoft's headquarters outside of Seattle.

While Boulder-based managing director Steve Erich oversees account work on all Microsoft assignments, Ryan Skubic, vp and group account director, is Crispin's client lead on the Windows brand and also based in L.A. Sue Anderson, the co-executive creative director that Crispin L.A. earlier this year from TBWA/Chiat/Day L.A., leads creative on the account.

Crispin's L.A. office staffs about 100 people, including two other group planning directors. Lindsey Allison focuses on the agency's Old Navy business, and Benny Thomas leads its newly-won Charles Schwab account

At David and Goliath, Measer worked on the agency's 2011 dancing-hamsters campaign for Kia, as well as clients like California Lottery, Carl's Jr. and Hardee's.

The move to Crispin marks a homecoming for Measer, who started his advertising career as a planning intern at the agency in 2002, working there until 2004 brands including Molson and Mini.
