ATLANTA-Cole Henderson Drake, experiencing a resurgence since the hiring of its new creative director Chris Jacobs, added three new clients last week with combined billings of approximately $5 million.
The World Golf Hall of Fame, located in St. Augustine, Fla., and Athens First Bank & Trust Co. in Athens, Ga., have each retained CHD as its agency.
Delta Apparel, a maker of T-shirts and casualwear in Duluth, Ga., has hired the shop for a series of advertising assignments.
Since arriving at the Atlanta shop from The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va., in September, Jacobs has led CHD to victory in four of five pitches, the largest being the Lake Lanier, Ga., tourism account. CHD principal John Drake said the shop had also declined several business opportunities.
"Athens First Bank is a huge creative opportunity for us," said Jacobs, recently made a partner at the agency. "The bank is located in the heart of . . . one of the most creative cities in America. It's crazy not to have their advertising and personality reflect that. We're probably going to make them a little nervous."
Neither individual account billings nor the identities of other shops competing in the reviews were disclosed.
The agency is on the verge of hiring a new creative supervisor, according to sources. Taylor Smith, an art director at William Eisner & Associates in Hales Corner, Wis., will join the company after Christmas, sources said. Representatives for CHD would neither confirm nor deny that claim; Smith did not return calls by press time.
