Retailer BevMo! in Concord, Calif., is considering three California agencies as it reviews its ad account, per sources.
Pitching are: Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco; Ground Zero in Marina del Rey; and Motta/Morris in El Segundo. Omnicom Group owns Goodby; the other two shops are independents.
The three agencies will give final presentations by month's end.
The chain of wine, spirits and beer superstores is expected to choose a winner by Labor Day.
Incumbent Hoffman/Lewis, San Francisco, which has held the account for more than six years, is not in contention.
Estimated annual ad spending is estimated at $10-15 million, the bulk of which is dedicated to TV buys in support of its five-cent wine sale twice a year.
BevMo! has about 100 stores, mostly in California, and a few in Arizona.
The privately held company is conducting the review without a search consultant.
Agency and client execs either declined comment or could not be reached.
