BabyCenter is kicking off a push into mobile with the launch of My Pregnancy Today, an app built for the iPhone and iTouch.
The company is launching the app based at least partly on responses to its recent on-site poll. That survey found that 60 percent of expectant mothers had an interest in a pregnancy tracking app, and 92 percent of moms claim to travel everywhere with their mobile devices.
Like several BabyCenter tools, My Pregnancy Today is designed to help women track the progress of their ongoing pregnancies by calculating their expected delivery dates. Users can access daily information on their baby’s development, as well as nutrition tips and advice on pregnancy-safe activities.
The free app also features BabyCenter’s proprietary 3-D animated videos, which showcase a baby’s development, along with clips of actual births. Plus, women can use the app to tap into BabyCenter's community of women who are due to give birth around the same time.
My Pregnancy Today is being sponsored by Johnson’s Baby. BabyCenter is owned by Johnson & Johnson.
