No one likes to be played for a fool, not even a child. A new round of ads for Ally Bank from BBH, New York, star more children disappointed by the treatment they get from average banks to show how Ally’s service is superior. In this spot, a young girl is teased with a room full of toys that she can’t play with until she makes her way through the obstacle course that is an automated phone service. As with ads in the previous “kids” series, the best part of the ad is the look of disbelief the girl gives the “other” bank rep, who has been taunting her with a talking doll of himself. The spot stresses Ally doesn’t give its patrons the runaround, but instead offers
live customer service people on the other end of the phone. “It’s just the right thing to do,” explains the voiceover. The ad ends before we see how the girl ends her exchange with the obnoxious suit. There must be funny outtakes somewhere showing at least one of these kids having a more appropriate child-like reaction, like kicking him in the shin or something.--Eleftheria Parpis
