AKQA has brought on BBDO cd Pierre Lipton to helm the creative on its Xbox business.
The independent agency said Lipton (pictured) would work as group creative director for the Microsoft gaming system account in AKQA's San Francisco office, reporting to CCO Rei Inamoto.
Lipton spent two-and-a-half years at BBDO in New York, where worked on HBO, The Economist and AT&T. He joined Omnicom-owned BBDO in 2008 from TBWA\Chiat\Day, where he was an associate creative director credited with developing Absolut's "In an Absolut World" tagline.
At BBDO, Lipton was one of about a dozen cds.
AKQA, like other digital agencies, is hiring creatives with backgrounds at traditional shops. In a statement, Inamoto said the firm is "focused on connecting the art and science between creative and technology."
Lipton is a copywriter by training. His career began with stints at DeVito/Verdi, Kirshenbaum Bond and Fallon.
